Events took place in schools, libraries, bookshops etc. throughout Europe – from Sweden and Finland to Tunisia and Turkey, from Ukraine and Latvia to Portugal and Italy.
#ReadForEurope Workshops, organized annually, drive wide momentum for systemic change and literacy strengthening across Europe.
In 2025 took place in Poland. The workshop participants, reached a consensus on their envisioned role of reading in society: We imagine Europe where reading is a natural part of every person’s life. Reading, as a part of life became a common vision.

Organizers
European Authors Day, celebrated under the hashtag #EuropeanAuthorsDay #ReadForReal, is led by a consortium of seven partners from five countries. Launched in 2023 with the support of the European Commission, the project was managed for two years by Creative Europe, which continues to provide co-funding.
