EUROPEAN AUTHORS DAY 11.11-12.12.2025

Consortium members

The Universal Reading Foundation is a non-profit organisation that has been promoting reading in Poland and Europe since 2018 — because reading helps to reduce social inequalities and gives everyone a better start.
In cooperation with the other consortium members and the Creative Europe team, it is the initiator and coordinating organiser of the European Authors Day celebrations #ReadForReal. It is responsible for the organisation of the Workshops for Professionals in 2025, as well as the recurring Literacy for Democracy conference. Together with the National Library in Warsaw, it is one of the READ.For Real Hubs in Poland.
The National Library of Poland is the state’s central library and one of the most important national cultural institutions. As a major research library with a humanities profile, it also works as the main archive of national writing, the country’s bibliographic information centre on books, a key research institution, and a methodological support centre for other libraries in Poland. It regularly introduces innovations to Polish librarianship, such as the modern digital library polona.pl and a shared library system that connects the catalogues of more than 150 libraries across the country. In the READ.For Real project, it is in charge of sending printed materials and coordinating and organising author meetings. Together with the Universal Reading Foundation, it is one of the READ.For Real Hubs in Poland.
